Optical fibers are classified according to ITU-T recommendations
1. G.651 multimode fiber (50 / 125) μ m. Multimode graded index fiber) is suitable for short distance transmission with wavelength of 850nm / 1310nm
2. G.652 conventional single-mode optical fiber (non dispersion shifted optical fiber STD SMF): applicable to 1310-1550nm access network, it is the most widely used optical fiber. At present, except for FTTH home optical fiber, almost all optical fibers used in long-distance and metropolitan areas are G.652 optical fiber, which is used in data communication and image transmission.
3. G.653 optical fiber (dispersion shifted fiber DSF): in λ= The zero dispersion point near 1310nm is moved to the wavelength of 1550nm to make it λ= The loss coefficient and dispersion coefficient at 1550nm wavelength are very small. It is suitable for long-distance transmission of 1550nm (backbone network / submarine optical cable).
4. G.654 optical fiber (cut-off wavelength shift optical fiber): it is suitable for 1550nm long-distance transmission (submarine optical cable but does not support DWDM) λ= The loss coefficient at 1550nm is very small, α= 0.2db/km, good bending performance of optical fiber. It is mainly used for long-distance non regenerative submarine optical cable system without inserting active devices. Its disadvantage is that it is difficult to manufacture and expensive.
5. G.655 optical fiber (non-zero dispersion shifted fiber, NZDSF): suitable for 1550nm long-distance transmission (backbone network. Submarine optical cable / support DWDM).
6. G.656 fiber (low slope non-zero dispersion shifted fiber): it is a kind of non dispersion shifted fiber. It has strict requirements on the dispersion speed to ensure the transmission in a larger wavelength range in DWDM system. In order to further expand the available wavelength range of DWDM system, it is a new type of fiber that maintains non-zero dispersion in S (1460 ~ 1530 nm), C (1530 ~ 1565 nm) and l (1565 ~ 1625 nm) bands.
7. G657 optical fiber (single-mode optical fiber with insignificant bending loss): FTTx bending radius is greater than G.652, so it is used in optical fiber to home.
According to the classification of optical fiber connector types, optical fiber jumpers can be divided into FC LC SC St MTRJ and MPO.
According to the number of optical fiber cores, it can be divided into single core, double core and multi-core (8 cores, 12 cores, 16 cores and 24 cores).
