A patch panel in a local area network (LAN) is an installed hardware component that contains ports for connecting and managing incoming and outgoing LAN cables. Distribution frames provide a way to keep a large number of cables in order, so that they can flexibly connect to network hardware located in data centers or access or distribution rooms.
