There Are Three Environmental Factors To Deal With

1. Environmental factors of extreme temperature and pressure:

Extreme changes in temperature or pressure will lead to rapid expansion and contraction of connector materials. Connectors deployed in these harsh environmental applications require that their coupling mechanism must be able to withstand their effects to prevent the invasion of the environment that may lead to short circuit or failure. Moreover, transportation industry applications such as construction and agricultural equipment, railway equipment and heavy trucks must operate in a wide range of extreme weather conditions, so the connectors in these machines must be able to withstand high temperature and cold.

2. Environmental factors of dust or liquid intrusion:

Intrusion failures can occur when connectors are exposed to dust, dirt, sand, splashes, rain, floods, submersions, chemical cleaners, and oil. In order to prevent the entry of liquid and the infiltration of foreign debris, the sealing connector used must maintain a close fit and ensure reliable operation even under pressure. The materials used to manufacture these connectors, including housings, seals and insulators, must be impermeable, and their structures must be strong and durable.

3. Environmental factors of impact and vibration:

Vibration is characterized by continuous sine wave, which will have a negative impact on the service life and reliability of connectors in interconnection. Vibration that cannot be detected by special equipment may be harmful to the connection over time. On the other hand, impact is the extreme force caused by sudden acceleration or deceleration. The vibration on the connector is particularly serious. The main difference between vibration and impact is frequency and amplitude.

Engines in industrial, transportation, military and aerospace equipment are often subjected to shock and vibration. Connector assemblies used in such applications must be designed to maintain a close fit to protect the contacts of each connector core. If the connector is slightly loose in these environments, it may damage the internal contacts, because even slight movement under vibration can quickly damage the components. Therefore, the locking coupling system will keep the two halves closely matched under continuous vibration and reliably prevent the connector from moving.
