800G OSFP112 DAC Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable Passive Direct Attach Copper Cable

The 800G OSFP112 passive direct-attach twinaxial cable is designed for 800GBASE Ethernet. The QSFP112 is based on the current OSFP module and cage/connector system, aiming to support 112Gb/s per lane in 8-lane OSFP systems and achieve a QSFP 800G interconnect ecosystem. This will greatly help existing OSFP users upgrade their link bandwidth to 800G per port at a lower cost and with a shorter transition period.

Why do you need 800G OSFP112 DAC Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable Passive Direct Attach Copper Cable?

With the continuous growth of data and the rise of internet business, the rapid changes and uncertainties in the IT architecture requirements of emerging applications have become major challenges, thus giving birth to an innovative architecture-Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI).
In recent years, the development of HCI has been booming, and replacing traditional architectures is inevitable. HCI is becoming the core of data center infrastructure. HCI technology is very mature and has been practiced and verified across various industries. It has a wide range of applications, including server virtualization, private cloud, development and testing, branch offices, VDI, and big data analysis platforms.
This advanced architecture demands higher signal speeds, bandwidth, and denser connections to meet its intricate design and configuration needs.

800G Ethernet represents a significant upgrade in next-generation network speeds. System designers require high-performance, high-density solutions.

COBTEL's OSF DAC (Octal Small Form Factor Pluggable Direct Attach Cable) solution provides designers with the necessary performance to meet the system design requirements of next-generation data centers.

The OSFP cable assembly supports 8 channels simultaneously, delivering a total bandwidth of up to 800 Gb/s (112G PAM4 × 8 channels). The product structure directly meets the next-generation data center's 800 Gb/s requirements, supporting both 8 × 28G NRZ and 8 × 56G PAM4 protocols, and is ready for 8 × 112G PAM4, facilitating future system upgrades.

The OSFP plug employs integrated heat dissipation technology, capable of managing up to 15 W of thermal load even in low airflow environments. The product not only provides excellent thermal performance but also supports the signal integrity required for 400 Gb/s data rates. The OSFP product offers high port density, with up to 36 ports on a 1RU panel, providing a maximum bandwidth of 14.4 Tb, in line with the current and next-generation Ethernet and supercomputing development roadmap.

OSFP, like QSFP-DD, is backwards compatible with QSFP+/QSFP28 but requires an additional OSFP to QSFP adapter to achieve this. QSFP-DD currently only supports up to 400 Gb/s, while OSFP supports up to 800 Gb/s. Considering scalability, OSFP has a slight advantage.

COBTEL's OSFP cable assembly design, including mechanical modules, card retention brackets, electrical interfaces, leads, and management interfaces, meets OSFP MSA multi-source agreement specifications. It is equipped with COBTEL HSC 28 copper cable 28AWG-3M, with electrical specifications compliant with the IEEE 802.3cd 400 Gb/s standard. Using HSC 40 copper cable also supports the IEEE 800 Gb/s standard.
